Screening Synopsis:
François, a young carpenter, married to Thérèse and father of two children, is a happy man. One day, whilst visiting the post office, he meets Émilie, with whom he falls in love. Still in love with his wife, François decides to enhance his happiness and has an affair with Émilie. In one of her most provocative films, Agnès Varda explores, through a palette of cheerful colours, sensual impressionist tones and the vibrant notes of Mozart, the ideas of fidelity and happiness in a modern, individualistic world.
