AN OPEN DISCUSSION ON FERNANDO NOGUEIRA’S ‘À DERIVA’ PROJECT

On the eve of the show’s premiere in Pombal, an open discussion will take place at Casa Varela to shed light on the creative process behind this project, which was selected as part of the Outdoor Arts Portugal 2026 Creation Grant, organised by Bússola, and developed through artistic residencies in co-production with 23 Milhas (Ílhavo), Casa Varela (Pombal) and Ponto C (Penafiel).“‘À Deriva’ is a new circus performance that uses an unconventional Chinese pole, designed to support itself and move through space through a interplay of balance, imbalance and swaying. In a world that is constantly accelerating, “À Deriva” offers a space of suspension. A solitary body, supported by an unstable structure, oscillates between risk and repose.
