CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN THE PAGES: REMEMBER | PRESERVE | CONNECT

As part of the celebrations for Municipality Day, the Pombal Municipal Archive is organising the 2nd edition of the ‘ENTRE FÓLIOS’ Talks: Remember | Preserve | Connect, an initiative that brings academic research closer to the community and highlights different perspectives on local history, drawing on the documentary sources held at the Municipal Archives. This edition invites us to journey back to the two decades preceding the establishment of the Republic, to explore governance and political struggle in the municipality of Pombal (1890–1910), with particular emphasis on the political activities of Joaquim Inácio Cardoso Pimentel. The historical research moves beyond the documents and comes to life through the words of professor and historian Otília Jorge, in a session designed to demonstrate how archives can open up new perspectives on the past, its key figures and the political and social transformations that shaped the region.
