“ESSENTIAL” – VAIVEN CIRCO

Vaivén Circo is a company founded in 2008 by Raquel Pretel Ferrándiz and Miguel Moreno (Bolo), who decided to bring together worlds as parallel and yet as distant as the circus and dance. This led to the creation of the show “Felicidade em dois a dois”, which has now been performed over 100 times. They subsequently created three further shows, all featuring live music. Their latest production is called “Esencial”, and is inspired by the “Waldorf Rainbow”, a toy consisting of pillars and arches that create a spectacular set design and a mutable architecture, capable of reinventing itself, just as human beings do in their quest for evolution. Over the years, the company has won numerous awards, such as the 2016 National Circus Award, a Max Award nomination for Best New Playwright in 2016, the Lorca Award for Best Street Performance in 2014, and the Prize at the 2011 Calle Mollina Street Artists’ Competition.
