RE.SET: A METAPHOR FOR MY QUEER EMANCIPATION

This is a performance that revisits personal events linked to my family, my emotional life, and my romantic and professional memories, to reflect a journey of inner listening, searching for the words to express my ever-changing lesbian identity. Within this autobiographical strand lies my deep connection to the aesthetics of cabaret, the Queercore movement and other counterculture figures such as Lene Lovich, Diamanda Galás, Siouxsie Sioux, Grace Jones, Nina Hagen and bell hooks – drawing inspiration from and identifying with their forms of artistic expression and socio-political stances. RE.SET a metaphor for my queer emancipation is a personal account dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQIAPN+ community, emphasising the importance of connecting with our own subjectivities so that we can genuinely open ourselves up to other people’s stories.
