DREAMING OF LIONS

Directed by Paolo Marinou-Blanco (“Goodnight Irene”), this black comedy centres on Gilda, a Brazilian woman living in Lisbon who has been diagnosed with spinal cord cancer. After several failed attempts at suicide, she decides to seek help from an underground organisation that organises talks on euthanasia and suicide for terminally ill people.
There, she meets Amadeu, a shy young man who works at a funeral parlour and who is there for reasons identical to her own. United by despair, the two become friends on this tragic – and at times comical – journey towards the end.
